The Year in Review - My Cat Lucy - Spring 2014

 In March 2014 I began looking for an adult cat and ended up purchasing an all white female cat from an Asian lady living in Surrey, a city just south of New Westminster but on the south side of the Fraser River.  Her name is Lucy, named after the previous owner formerly from China.  The photos were taken in Lucy's former home.  I brought her home on the third visit on April 19th.  There is a surprise but I will explain more in a post in the near future.

 She reminds me a lot of a Bombay cat but she's white, not black!  Lucy was said to be an angora cat but I didn't think that was the whole story or that she was a pure-bred (no papers).

 Lucy is a wonderful cat with a beautiful personality.  She settled in after spending two weeks under my bed.  After that, her true nature come out, especially a lottle later!  :-)  - Volker

The Year in Review - The TED Event - Vancouver - Spring 2014

 The TED Event was held in the convention centre near Waterfront Station in downtown Vancouver this past spring.  Here are some photos taken near the event venue this spring.

 The fishing net was a focal point of the event.  Here are a few photos of that taken from various angles.

The Year in Review - Sapperton - March 2014

 Above is a photos of the side street near home.  You might recognize it from a photo in an earlier post but this one is minus the snow.

 The Thifty Foods on Columbia Street in Sapperton (New Westminster) is now a Save On Foods since it was sold since this photo was taken earlier this year.  There is a story behind that if you care to do some online research.

 The grocery store is sitting on land that used to be part of a former brewery, Labatt's.

The Year in Review - Glenbrook Ravine Park - March 2014

 Despite being late winter, with approaching spring some early colour was starting to emerge.  Each season has something to offer, even in the dead of winter.  Our winters here, compared to other parts of Canada, do not get very severe!  We should be thankful.  Enjoy the photos and the season! :-)  - Volker

Winter Scenes

Winter has finally come to the British Columbia lower mainland, though this photo is from earlier this year when the last winter was having its death throws.  The scene is on a side street near home but the temperatures are warmer than they are now.  We are expecting a low of - 8 degrees Celsius tonight.  The snow season is just starting here, so we can expect more of the white stuff over the coming months though nothing like what other parts of the country experience!  :-)

 The last two photos were taken the same day as the first one sometime in February or March 2014.  During the same outing, I was in the ravine park nearby and crocuses were up and in bloom, so March is the more likely.  Meantime, enjoy each season for what it offers.  :-)  - Volker

The year in review - 2014!

The year has been an busy and interesting one!  At this point I plan to do a review of the year's highlights.  I took some photos at the TED Event in Vancouver in March, started an Avocado tree (pictured) and bought a cat for health reasons.  More on all that very soon!  - Volker
