This is my first post. One has to start somewhere and the beginning is a good place to start. The purpose of this blog is to discuss various topics such as art, history, geography, music, philosopy, and so on with a few surprises thrown in here and there to make it all exciting for all of us. The name for this blog is taken from the Latin name for the Bald Eagle, Haliaeetus, and the Greek equivalent, in case you are wondering, is Haliaetos. The full name for the Bald Eagle is Haliaeetus leucocephalus of course. The name seems rather appropriate given the subject matter, so I will attempt to keep the discussion far reaching, stimulating and enlightening. Feel free to comment when the mood strikes but keep it upbeat and positive. I am not perfect, so if you notice an error, either in the facts or the spelling of a word, let me know.
Over time you will also see plenty of my photographic images which currently are mostly land and seascape plus some wildlife, as you can see from the photos of the waterfowl at Lost Lagoon at Stanley Park in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada). Since I am a resident of the lower mainland, you will see images taken mostly around the Vancouver area for now. Others may follow in time. Enjoy them and please comment!

Hi,
I am writing from Dar es Salaam,Tanzania, East Africa. I heard of this blog sometime last year when you informed 1body2soul of your intentions of creating it. since then I have kept vigil to see it on the web.
It is a good piece of work to begin with-though I thought you would have come with a pic of a bald eagle-or should I say that I am waiting eagerly to see one day a pic of the bird that carry the title of your new blog!
otherwise, I have always loved every word of yours- because I am helped to come to terms with my life-my beautiful, wonderful life!
thanks!
I'm sorry-I have seen the pic of the bird-the pc I am using has some errors to extent some of the pages are not displayed correctly!
There will be a lot more photos over time. Most will be my own but occasionally I will post images of other photographers (with their permission of course).
